Accommodations

The historic residence, guest wings, and cottages are on the estate grounds. There are 22 individual, comfortably furnished guest rooms and baths.

Sunnylands has a history of hosting hundreds of famous guests during the latter part of the 20th century. Most rooms display photos and information about the guests who stayed in them and when they visited.

Retreat participants will stay in the following accommodations:
Residence — five courtyard guest rooms
Guest Wing—five historic guest rooms
Mesquite Cottage—four guest rooms
Ocotillo Cottage—two guest rooms
Palo Verde Cottage—six guest rooms

Meeting Spaces

Formal sessions may take place in a variety of locations throughout the estate and at Sunnylands Center & Gardens. The historic residence features a large living room that seats up to 32 for meetings as well as elegant spaces and smaller rooms for break-out sessions. The Mesquite, Ocotillo, and Palo Verde Cottages each have living rooms where up to 12 people can meet.

The new Sunnylands Center & Gardens is a 17,000-square-foot building with several areas for meetings, meals, and receptions.

  • An intimate 47-seat theater that offers video conferencing can also be set in a conference or classroom style for up to 20 people.
  • A multi-function room can seat 85 theater-style and 40 in a conference or classroom style.
  • The Center's central area, or Great Room, holds up to 250 for receptions and 100 for a seated dinner.


All rooms at the Center have views of the mountains and gardens.

Wi-Fi is available in all the buildings and throughout the Sunnylands property.

Recreation

A golf course with driving range has been rated as one of the best private courses in the nation. Designed by Dick Wilson, the nine-hole golf course may be configured as an 18-hole historic, championship, or tournament course.

Eleven lakes
are stocked with catfish, large-mouth bass, bluegill, and minnow. Equipment is available for catch-and-release fishing.

The swimming pool at the residence is surrounded by trees, plants, and sculpture.

A tennis court is just a short walk from the residence.

Walking trails and a closed loop “amble” take guests through the estate's beautiful gardens and around the lakes.
